After a twelve-year run the Thursday afternoon Westwood Village farmers market has been told to leave. Construction on the giant Palazzo Westwood development makes the area too unsafe for market stalls and strolling pedestrians, according to city officials cited in the UCLA Daily Bruin. The market could be closed within the next two weeks. Flyers handed out last week urged customers to complain to councilman Jack Weiss about the decision.
The Westwood Village Farmers’ Market web site also features information about the closure and efforts to keep the market in its present location.
