Foti Farm and “Good Food”

How do we feed ourselves? Do our agricultural practices make us vulnerable to outbreaks such as the recent E. coli contamination of spinach grown in certain California counties?

Last Saturday’s episode of “Good Food” on KCRW considered these questions from three perspectives: Laura Avery of the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market provided an update regarding farmers’ market spinach and the counties affected by the E. coli outbreak; Michael Pollan talked with Evan Kleiman about the perils of industrialized farming and distribution; and Mike Foti, owner of an Edible Estate in Lakewood, discussed the benefits of relying on really local produce: what he grows in his home garden.

The program is available on KCRW’s web site in several audio formats.
