Sustainable World Salon

Our Pasadena-based friends have alerted us to the Sustainable World Salon, an opportunity to discuss critical issues related to the theme “saving the world, one bite at a time.”

Come prepared to discuss the Sept. 11 issue of The Nation, including “Slow Food Nation” by Alice Waters and a forum of thinkers answering the question, “One thing (we can) do about Food” in the same issue. Eating local foods is a radical act! The decisions we make about food have personal and global repercussions. In this first salon, a roundtable discussion, we will consider the full consequences of our national dietary habits, including health, poverty, crime, lifestyle, food safety, energy resources and biodiversity. That’s a pretty powerful tomato you’re eating!
