“The Past, Present, and Future of Food”

“The Past, Present, and Future of Food” was the title of a multimedia presentation at the University of California, Berkeley, earlier this week by John Mackey, cofounder and CEO of Whole Foods Market. After his presentation, Mr. Mackey was joined by Michael Pollan in conversation, continuing in person the exchange of views the two have been conducting since the publication of Pollan’s 2006 book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma.

Their correspondence, which has explored such issues as organic and local food, animal agriculture, and the role of Whole Foods, is available on Mr. Mackey’s blog on Whole Foods’ web site and on Michael Pollan’s web site.
