Two events have come to our attention that may be of interest to Slow Food Los Angeles members and friends:
Breadbar is hosting its first annual Jam Session. For musicians, a jam session is one thing, but for bread lovers, it can mean something else entirely: A class on how to prepare conserves, marmalades, and jellies with summer’s best fruits, berries, and herbs. Breadbar staff will show you how to preserve the season in your own kitchen, followed by a tasting and afternoon tea.

The following week, Breadbar’s Century City location will host Dr. Steven L. Kaplan, renowned historian on bread, Goldwin Smith Professor of History at Cornell University, and all-around official “bread head”. Dr. Kaplan will be speaking about his book, Good Bread is Back. He will also be conducting an exclusive bread tasting, and explain the process of tasting, the criteria involved and discuss his extensive taste-testing of the bakeries in Paris. Space is limited.
