The Cook’s Library has announced that Chef David Tanis of Chez Panisse will be signing copies of A Platter of Figs and Other Recipes, his recently published cookbook.

Published in September by Artisan, A Platter of Figs reflects not only the celebration of seasonal ingredients that is a hallmark of Chez Panisse’s kitchen but also Chef Tanis’s talent at incorporating his experiences in Berkeley, in Paris, and from his many travels. Handsomely illustrated, the book presents twenty-four seasonal menus that call out to be enjoyed with others, encouraging the adoption of Slow Food values of good, clean, and fair food prepared and enjoyed in a convivial setting.
The New York Times Magazine recently offered a glimpse of what A Platter of Figs offers, including recipes for Saffron Carrots, Caseless Fennel Sausage, and Duck Breast with Baked Figs, and Gourmet has praised it, noting that “There’s a great deal to be said for a restaurant chef who spends half the year entertaining in a tiny home kitchen: Fussy preparations go right out the window.”
