Los Angeles

to those extraordinary volunteers who helped plan and host the Slow Food Los Angeles eat-ins, to those who supported an event with contributions big and small, and to everyone who participated in one of Monday’s gatherings. We had a tremendous response with gatherings ranging in attendance from 25 to 250, beautiful weather, great food, and lots of signatures gathered and letters written to support Slow Food’s campaign to get real food into schools.

Special thanks to Emily Ventura, the chairperson of Slow Food Los Angeles’s social action committee and the leader of our local Time For Lunch campaign. Emily was also the principal organizer of the Highland Park eat-in and brought together members of the neighborhood, Slow Food volunteers, colleagues from USC’s Childhood Obesity Research Center, members and managers of the Milagro Allegro Community Garden, staff and volunteers from Homegirl Cafe, and Whole Foods Arroyo Parkway to make the event a memorable and successful one.

We’ll post details of each eat-in in the coming days: Check back soon for photos and information on Los Angeles events along with local and national news, join our email list to receive alerts by mail, or follow us on Twitter.
