KCRW’s First Annual Good Food Pie Contest

Since the beginning of summer, Evan Kleiman has been baking a pie a day, and her posts and tweets about her successes and learning experiences have ignited the interest and creativity of many home bakers.

At this event, home cooks and pastry chefs will compete at KCRW’s first ever pie bake-off. Hosted by Evan and judged by a panel including Russ Parsons of the Los Angeles Times, Stefan Richter of LA Farm, The Foundry’s Eric Greenspan, and Mark Peel of Campanile, four categories of pies will be evaluated: Fruit & Nut; Cream/Custard/Chiffon/Mousse; Interpretive Pie (defies categorization); Savory.

When: Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm
Where: Westfield Topanga Mall, Canyon Atrium, 6600 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Canoga Park
Cost: Free; see participation details on the registration page.

The deadline for registering is November 8; multiple entries may be made by only one pie per category. The online registration form is available at www.kcrw.com/events/good-food-pie-bakeoff.
