“L is for Lunch”: Schools Emphasizing Food Education

The New York Times has just published the second in a series of articles about schools that are making food–and food knowledge–an important part of the educational experience.
The first article, “How Does Their Garden Grow?”, describes the impact a program at the Bronx High School of Science has had on its students, motivating many to pursue courses of study and careers in horticulture and agriculture. (Article is also here if the link has expired.)

The second article, “Harlem School Introduces Children to Swiss Chard”, was published today, and it spotlights the Promise Academy in Harlem, which has made student diets and food education a priority…with interesting results.
