Mary MacVean looks at the growing momentum in Congress for substantive changes to the Child Nutrition Act–the focus of Slow Food’s Time For Lunch campaign.

Among those supporting improvements to the Act are Representative George Miller (D-Martinez) and Representative Lynn Woolsey (D-Petaluma).

Slow Food Los Angeles heartily supports the Time For Lunch platform which calls for increases in funding ($1 per day, per child) and adoption of innovative educational programs that will have positive effects both in and out of the classroom. We also encourage you to sign the online petition, and invite you to join your friends and neighbors (or meet new ones) at an Eat-in this Labor Day.

  In anticipation of the 2012 reauthorization process, Dan Imhoff has revised Food Fight, his clear and helpful guide to the Farm Bill for concerned citizens, food activists, and the media. The Food Fight website features information about the book and the Farm Bill, and will be growing as Congress begins work on this important legislation in February and March.

  The Los Angeles Food Policy Task Force has released its report and supporting documents. You can download the complete report or review the executive summary on the Good Food LA website.
